Resources for teachers and young people

The Hansard Society provides a range of resources which are free of charge for teachers and those working with children.  For more information on these services click on the relevant links below:

Y Vote Mock Elections
Mock elections give students a first-hand insight into how voting and the democratic process works.  Teachers receive a comprehensive resource pack containing a step-by-step guide to running the elections.  Further information can be found at www.mockelections.co.uk.

HeadsUp
www.headsup.org.uk is an innovative website where under-18s and parliamentarians debate the issues of the day.  The site is a non-partisan, cross-party educational resource that provides a secure, structured and student-centered discussion platform.  For further information, please click here.  Teachers and young people can join the debate at www.headsup.org.uk

Elected Representatives in Schools Series
The Elected Representatives in Schools resource pack helps schools to develop better links with their local representatives by supporting teachers and students in organisating an interactive visit from their elected representative.  The free resource packs provide teachers with materials they can use to prepare and organise a visit by an MP, MSP, MEP or AM.  For further information and to order any of the free resource packs, please click here

Big Ben and All That!
Big Ben and All That! is an interactive CD-Rom which contains bite-size video interviews with MPs and Peers that give teachers the inside scoop on what goes on in Westminster.  The knowledge developed through the use of Big Ben and All That! enhances teachers' confidence in teaching political literacy.  For further information about Big Ben and All That! and to order your free copy, please click here
