Calling all citizenship teachers - Europe made easy!

Peterborough - Thursday 11 December 2008

If you're after some fresh ideas on how to teach young people about politics, come along to the FREE EU and All That conference, tailor-made for citizenship teachers.

Following eleven successful conferences throughout England and Wales, the UK Office of the European Parliament and the Hansard Society are once again combining forces to demonstrate free teaching resources designed to support teaching about the European Parliament and the UK Parliament.  The all-day conference in Peterborough is for citizenship teachers and LEA citizenship coordinators. It aims to support teachers in the delivery of the Citizenship curriculum by providing free resources that encourage those who work with young people to develop new ways of teaching the Europe dimension of the Citizenship curriculum. In addition, the conference will explore national levels of policy and law-making.

2009 is the year of elections to the European Parliament. The EU and All That conference is therefore timely and indispensable for enabling teachers to confidently teach about the European Parliament and what will be the largest trans-national elections in history.

Four further EU and All That conferences will take place in: Liverpool - Wednesday 4 February 2009; Newcastle - Wednesday 11 March 2009; Exeter - Wednesday 22 April 2009; London - Wednesday 20 May 2009.

Each conference is FREE, with teachers' travel expenses paid and refreshments provided throughout the day. Teachers will receive a free set of resources to use right away and will have the opportunity to participate in workshops on delivering political literacy confidently and in an innovative and engaging way.
