Politics Versus Young People in Wales

Wednesday October 12, Pierhead, Cardiff Bay

The National Assembly for Wales and the Hansard Society hosted a panel discussion in the Pierhead to explore the relationship between young people and politics in Wales and asked if politicians and young people are talking at each other rather than listening to each other

Clips from the event can be viewed on the NAW's Youtube channel here: www.youtube.com/assemblycynulliad

Panel:

  • Christine Chapman AM (Labour)
  • Bethan Jenkins AM (Plaid Cymru)
  • David Melding AM (Conservative)
  • Eluned Parrott AM (Liberal Democrat)
  • Aled Jones (Chair, Youth Forum, Welsh National Federation of Young Farmers)

Chair: Nia Medi (BBC Radio Cymru)

  • Are politicians and young people talking at each other rather than listening to each other?
  • Have politicians just paid lip service to the idea of getting young people enthused and knowledgeable about politics?
  • Do we need more imaginative and entertaining political literacy education in schools and colleges?
