Individual Subscription (UK & EU) - £35

The Hansard Society's Individual Subscription Membership includes all the benefits of the Basic Membership PLUS a subscription to Parliamentary Affairs, at a reduced rate of £26 a year (EU €39/International $52). Parliamentary Affairs is a quarterly academic journal published by the Oxford University Press in association with the Hansard Society. The subscription runs from January to December and is billed separately by the Oxford University Press.

Individual Subscription (Overseas) - $46

If you live overseas, you can still enjoy all the benefits of an Individual Subscription Membership and receive Parliamentary Affairs at a reduced rate of $46 a year.

Professor Sir Bernard Crick

It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Professor Sir Bernard Crick.

Sir Bernard made an enormous contribution to the quality of political education that young people in the UK receive. His 1998 report: Education for citizenship and the teaching of democracy in schools was the driving force behind the introduction of Citizenship Education in Schools and he has been a key advocate for greater public engagement, especially from young people, his entire life.

Sir Bernard's contribution to the health of the UK's democracy through his writings and advocacy was enormous and he will be sadly missed. Indeed, Sir Bernard made an enormous contribution to the health of the Hansard Society when in 1973 Sir Bernard, then Professor of Politics at Birkbeck College London, persuaded the College to provide offices for the Society at a very modest rent. He also helped secure financial backing, and had a major hand in initiating new research projects.

Professor Sir Bernard Crick is on the Hansard Society Democracy Award shortlist for the individual or organisation which has advanced understanding of and engagement in parliamentary democracy, awarded at the Channel 4 Political Awards.
