Learning about British politics from the inside

For over 20 years, the Study & Scholars Programme has run a series of courses aimed at improving accessibility and understanding of the British political system. Hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world have participated in our prestigious Hansard Scholars Programme, and we have successfully delivered political education and training programmes to dozens of organisations from both the public and private sectors.

The Hansard Society is registered with the UK Government's Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills (DIUS) as an education & training provider, and is accredited by the British Accreditation Council.

  • Hansard Scholars Visit Edinburgh

    Edinburgh Castle The Summer 2009 Hansard Scholars took advantage of Westminster's parliamentary recess recently ( and the great weather) to go on a political study visit to Edinburgh. The group, comprising 11 undergraduates from the US and Canada and 7 postgraduate students from Chile, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, India, Indonesia and Croatia braved the 5 hour train journey to the Scottish capital to spend 4 days participating in seminars with politicians and policymakers, and visiting the Scottish Parliament.

    Student If you're interested in doing a unique political internship in Edinburgh and studying British politics at the world famous EdinburghUniversity, the Postgraduate Certificate in Government and Public Policy will begin in September, just after Edinburgh's famous International Festival. The Certificate is fully-accredited by the University of Edinburgh.
