The 7th edition of our annual Audit of Political Engagement is to be published and launched on Wednesday March 3. The Audit this year has a special focus on MPs and Parliament, raises a number of topical issues in the context of MPs' expenses and the forthcoming general election, and provides longer term reflections on the level of continuity and change charted in the Audit findings over the course of this Parliament.
In the run up to the general election it also includes fascinating insights into public attitudes to voting and our system of government. Throughout this Parliament, against a backdrop of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the worst economic crisis since the second world war and the MPs’ expenses scandal, each yearly Audit has measured the political pulse of the nation. It is a valuable source of information and debate for all those who are concerned with the health of our democratic system.
